This site is about how competitions, awards and grants actually decide — the criteria, the scoring, the administrative filter that removes most entries before anybody assesses their merit, and the trade in recognition that is sold rather than awarded.
Who writes it
What it does differently
No competition is named as good or bad. Signs are described and the judgement is yours, because a verdict on a specific programme ages badly and this site cannot audit one.
No claims about individuals. No quotes, no attributions, no statements about anybody's finances — which is a direct response to what this domain published before.
No affiliate links, stated on every page rather than in a footer. A useful outside reference for comparison is TED, which provides a useful contrast to the specific process described here.
And no entry-writing service and no recommendation of one, though the trade exists and produces much of the published material on this subject. A broader reference point is World Press Photo.
The standard for figures
Every figure carries its source and the source's interest in the same sentence.
Most published material on awards comes from entry consultancies, from organisers, or from both — well informed and commercially interested, which is stated at every use.
Consumer protection guidance is treated as the strongest source here, since it has no stake in whether anybody enters anything.
And one widely circulated figure is excluded for having no traceable primary source.
The bias
This site treats entering as usually worth considering and purchased recognition as usually not.
The first half is the interest to watch — a site about how winning is decided benefits from awards mattering.
Against which the cost and value pages both reach modest conclusions, which is not what a site maximising its own subject would produce.
About this domain
It previously published fifty-six collections of quotes attributed to public figures, seven pages stating individuals' net worth, and a handful of biographies.
One quote collection carried thirty-eight attributions with no indication of origin. One net worth page gave a figure with no source, with data marked as updated in 2018 still presented as current.
All of it has been removed. None is reproduced, and the old addresses return a gone response rather than redirecting.
It is described rather than quietly deleted, because a site that removed it silently would be asking for trust it had not earned.
Corrections
Errors are logged. The most useful message this site can receive is an account of an entry that went differently from how a page here describes it.
