David Seth Kotkin was born on 16th September 1956 in Metuchen, New Jersey. He’s the son of Jewish parents, Rebecca Kotkin and Asman Kotkin.

At 12, he becomes the youngest person to be admitted to the society of American Magicians. At age 16, he was teaching a course in magic at New York University.
Career
He started his career with the lead role in the musical The magic man in Chicago. It went on to become the longest-running musical in the history of Chicago.
He adopted his stage name David Copperfield from Charles Dickens’s novel.
Copperfield started his television career in 1977 for the show The magic of ABC. He played the character of a magician in the Terro Trans horror film in 1980.
Some of his famous illusions were, the vanishing and reappearance of the statue of Liberty in 1983, escaping from Alcatraz prison in 1987, and more.
He went on to perform many illusions in several shows.
